Brave,Loyal Dog Saves Owner’s Life From Mountain Lion Attack:’My Dog Is My Hero’ What a story

Dogs make such loyal and loving friends. They have keen intuition and constantly step in to help when their owners are in need, even if it puts them in danger.

Like one courageous dog that successfully repelled an oncoming mountain lion and save the life of her owner.

Eva, a 2-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois, is the beloved pet of Erin Wilson of Trinity County, California. The two were were taking a leisurely stroll by the river when the peaceful day quickly descended into a battle for their lives.

According to the Sacramento Bee, a mountain lion charged at Erin while howling and tearing a hole through her clothing. As there was no one else around, Erin called to Eva for help, and the devoted dog came running.

Erin reports that Eva bravely confronted the mountain lion, “striking that beast quite hard” and diverting the large cat’s attention away from Erin. But because the dog was outmatched, the mountain lion “latched on to her head” putting her through a terrible ordeal. Erin quickly returned the favor, fending off the enormous cat with sticks and rocks and calling for help from a passing car, which dispersed the attack by pepper spraying the wild animal.

Eva was eventually set loose by the mountain lion, but the dog had severe head injuries. She had a few puncture marks in her face, according to Erin, who spoke to the Sacramento Bee. And all she was doing was spitting blood from her lips.

Eva was taken to the hospital, and even though it seemed hopeless, the courageous dog lived. To help with Eva’s medical costs, Erin set up a GoFundMe page. According to Erin, her hero is recovering and the doctors are “optimistic.”

Eva saved her owner’s life despite suffering some severe injuries in the process. Capt. Patrick Foy of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife stated, “I think it’s reasonable to say the dog definitely saved her life.

“My puppy is my hero, and I owe her my life,” Erin said on GoFundMe.
