How this Shelter Dog won the Role in the Film

“She was given a chance and demonstrated the abilities of shelter dogs”

Coco may not have anticipated seeing her name on lights, but it did occur. Unbeknownst to her, the dog who had been moved from house to home finally found a new family and was on her way to becoming a famous celebrity.

According to Chloe Arrington, social media coordinator for the Lifeline Animal Project at Fulton County Animal Services, “Coco was a lost pet and was being cared for by a member of the community for several weeks,” she told The Dodo. They made an effort to find anyone who could be looking for her, but they were unable to keep her for good.

The lovely puppy ended up in the shelter after attempts to find her folks were fruitless. She was temporarily taken up by a foster family, but they were unable to care for her.

She returned to the shelter where she was adopted by her new family, according to Arrington. They had hoped she would be up for adoption, and sure enough, destiny intervened!

Chloe Arrington, social media coordinator for Lifeline Animal Project at Fulton County Animal Services, told The Coco’s new family are entertainment industry professionals who had the ideal opportunity for their new dog — a starring role in Hulu’s “Prey,” a prequel to the Predator franchise. “Coco was a lost pet and was being cared for by a member of the community for several weeks,” Arrington said. The adorable canine assumes the role of Sarii, Naru’s dependable buddy (Amber Midthunder).

She now has a committed trainer in addition to her family, Arrington said. “Coco might play more roles in the future because she is an energetic puppy that likes to go around and learn new things. For her, working is a perfect fit.

The former shelter dog is currently enjoying life to the fullest while demonstrating to prospective pet parents the benefits of adopting rescues.

According to the shelter’s Facebook post, “She was initially intended to have a modest role; but, her popularity among test audiences led director Dan Trachtenberg to add more of Coco in the film.”

Midthunder, the star of the film, claimed that Coco is “… a little bit of a hot mess — but in a charming way,” which, as she discovered, required a little more tolerance with the rescue. In the end, everyone associated with the movie fell in love with Coco because of her “own joyous and fun attitude.”
